Right pet, can we have a little chat about tights?
Because for years they got treated like the forgotten cousin of fashion. You’d grab a black pair, wrestle them on, hope they survived the day and never really think about them again.
Not anymore.
Hosiery and tights are having a proper comeback and honestly, I’m here for it. They’re no longer just practical winter basics hiding underneath an outfit. They’re becoming part of the look itself.
And the trends are proving it.
One of the biggest styles making waves right now is burgundy tights.
I’m not surprised in the slightest.
Burgundy feels rich, classy and just a little softer than black. It adds warmth to an outfit without feeling too bold and works beautifully with neutral dresses, oversized knitwear and boots. If you want something stylish but still easy to wear, this is a lovely place to start.
Then we’ve got argyle tights stepping into the spotlight.
Now I know what some of you are thinking.
“Argyle? Like me granda’s jumper?”
Hear us out.
Fashion’s gone properly nostalgic lately and argyle fits right into that vintage-inspired mood. Patterned hosiery adds personality and can make a simple outfit feel far more interesting, especially paired with loafers, skirts or chunky footwear.
And speaking of patterns, polka dot tights are back on people’s radar too.
These never really disappear, do they?
There’s something playful and feminine about them. A sheer polka dot tight can instantly make a plain outfit feel more polished without looking overdone. Whether you’re dressing for work, dinner or a night out, they bring a little charm without demanding all the attention.
Another trend we’re seeing everywhere is coloured tights.
And honestly? About time.
We spend so much effort choosing tops and jackets but forget our legs can join the fashion party too. Deep plum, forest green, navy and chocolate shades are becoming increasingly popular and can completely change the feel of an outfit.
Before anybody panics – coloured tights do not mean dressing like a packet of Skittles.
The trick is balance.
If your outfit is simple, coloured hosiery can add interest. If your outfit already has plenty going on, softer tones keep things stylish and wearable.
Now let’s talk leopard print tights.
I know, I know.
Leopard can divide opinion faster than pineapple on pizza.
But done properly, leopard hosiery can look incredibly stylish. Instead of feeling loud, it adds a bit of confidence and personality to simple outfits. Black dresses, oversized blazers and ankle boots suddenly feel that little bit bolder.
Lace tights are enjoying their moment too.
And I’ll be honest – I quite like this one.
Lace hosiery brings softness and texture and feels especially lovely for evenings, parties or occasions where you want something more romantic. Styled simply, they can look elegant rather than fussy.
And yes, we need to mention stockings and suspenders making a quiet return to fashion conversations.
Now before somebody spills their tea, let’s be sensible.
For plenty of women, these styles are less about old-fashioned stereotypes and more about vintage glamour, personal style or simply feeling confident in their own skin. Fashion moves in circles and classic hosiery styles are finding their way back into wardrobes once again.
What I find interesting about all this is what it says about fashion generally.
Women are moving away from playing safe.
We’re seeing more texture, more personality and more confidence returning to hosiery and tights. Instead of hiding them underneath an outfit, people are styling them intentionally.
And honestly? I think that’s lovely.
Because sometimes fashion isn’t about buying a whole new wardrobe.
Sometimes it’s just about changing the tights.
And if that gives your outfit – and your mood – a little lift, I’d call that money well spent, pet.
