Lingerie is for everyone, you don’t need to be size 0 — here’s why confidence, comfort, and the right fit matter more than body size
If you’ve ever felt like lingerie “isn’t for you” because you don’t look like the women in adverts, you’re not alone. For years, lingerie has been marketed around one narrow body type — but real women come in all shapes and sizes, and the truth is simple: lingerie should fit you, not the other way around. From choosing soft, comfortable fabrics to finding styles that work for your body, this guide explores why lingerie is for everyone — and how to find pieces that make you feel confident, supported, and completely yourself.
Right, let’s have a proper chat about this, yeah?
Because I keep seeing it — that little hesitation. That moment where you’re stood there thinking, “nah… that’s not for me.”
And I’m like… says who?
Honestly, who decided lingerie was only for size 0 bodies? Because it certainly wasn’t women like us just trying to get through the day without something digging into our hips or riding up where it shouldn’t.
I’ll tell you what it actually is, pet.
It’s not that lingerie isn’t for you.
It’s that a lot of lingerie hasn’t been made with you in mind.
Big difference.
I’ve had stuff before that looked lush on the hanger — thought I’d treat meself, you know? Get it home, put it on, and within five minutes I’m like… absolutely not. Straps cutting in, fabric itching, seams showing through everything. You’re stood there thinking, “is it me?”
It’s not you.
It’s the design.
Because real life isn’t standing still in a photoshoot. You’re moving, sitting, rushing about, maybe heading to the gym, maybe just trying to feel comfortable in your own clothes. And if what you’re wearing underneath isn’t working with you, it’s going to annoy you all day.
That’s why so many women end up doing their own thing.
Wearing softer fabrics.
Going for bigger knickers instead of thongs.
Or even thinking, “you know what? I’m not wearing anything under these leggings today because I just can’t deal with it.”
And do you know what? Fair enough.
But here’s the bit I want you to hear properly…
Lingerie isn’t about being a certain size.
It’s about how it feels on your body.
When it’s right — when the fabric’s soft, when it sits properly, when it moves with you — you don’t think about your size. You’re not stood there analysing yourself in the mirror.
You just feel comfortable. Maybe even a bit confident.
And that should never be limited to one type of body.
I hate the idea that some women feel like they’ve got to “earn” the right to wear nice underwear. As if there’s some kind of checkpoint where suddenly you’re allowed to feel good in your own skin.
Nah. Not having that.
If anything, it should be the opposite.
You wear lingerie to feel good now.
Not “when you lose weight.”
Not “when you look like her.”
Now.
And that might not look like what you see online, and that’s fine.
For you, it might be:
soft, stretchy knickers that don’t dig in
a bra that actually supports without feeling like armour
something simple that just makes you feel a bit more put together
That counts.
That is lingerie.
And it’s yours.
So next time that little voice pops up telling you it’s not for you…
Just remember — it was never about the size.
It was about finding something that finally feels right on you.
And trust me, pet… when you find that, you’ll wonder why you ever thought you weren’t included.
