Shall I Go Commando today?

Some mornings you stand in front of your wardrobe and ask a simple question: what do you feel like wearing today?

Not what someone else would prefer. Not what someone once told you was “flattering.” Not what you think someone might expect to see. Just what feels right for you.

Underwear is one of the most personal choices you make every day. It’s the first layer you put on, the one no one else usually sees, the one that sits closest to your skin. And because of that, it carries a quiet kind of power. It’s a decision that belongs entirely to you.

Some days you might reach for something soft and comfortable. Something that feels gentle and relaxed against your body while you move through the day. Other days you might want something bold. Lace, colour, something that makes you smile when you catch your reflection in the mirror.

There are days when you might choose something practical because you’re heading to the gym or planning to move a lot. Supportive fabrics, breathable materials, something designed to move with your body and keep you feeling free and confident.

And then there are days when you might make an even simpler choice.

No underwear at all.

Yes, really.

Choosing to go commando can feel strangely liberating. There’s a sense of freedom in deciding that today you don’t need an extra layer between you and the world. It’s comfortable, natural, and sometimes exactly what your body wants. There’s no rule that says you must wear something just because it’s expected.

That’s the small rebellion.

Because society often fills women’s heads with endless instructions about how they should present themselves. What they should wear, how they should dress, what is “appropriate,” what is “sexy,” what is “ladylike.” But the truth is that none of those voices are standing in your bedroom when you choose your underwear for the day.

That moment belongs to you.

Maybe today you choose lace because it makes you feel confident and elegant. Maybe you choose something sporty because you want to feel active and strong. Maybe you choose something simple and comfortable because it suits the rhythm of your day.

Or maybe you choose nothing at all.

Every one of those choices is valid because the decision isn’t about impressing someone else. It’s about how you want to feel when you step out of the house.

There’s something quietly empowering about that realisation. The fact that the layer closest to your body is also the one that belongs entirely to your own decision. No opinions, no commentary, no expectations.

Just you.

And the interesting thing is that confidence often begins with these small moments. When you allow yourself to make choices that feel right rather than choices designed to satisfy someone else’s idea of what you should be.

The underwear you choose in the morning might seem like a tiny detail, but it sets the tone for the day. It’s a reminder that your body belongs to you and that your comfort and confidence matter.

So the next time you stand in front of your drawer wondering what to wear underneath your clothes, remember something simple.

There is no correct answer.

There is only your answer.

And whatever you choose, lace, cotton, sport, bold colours, or nothing at all, make sure it’s because it makes you feel good.

Because that feeling is where confidence begins.
